About
If you find yourself in Naperville, Illinois, there’s a culinary gem that you cannot miss: El Taco Ranchero Naperville. Nestled at 1931 S Washington St, this delightful establishment has redefined the local Mexican food scene since it opened its doors in the spring of 2020. Once a humble taco truck, El Taco Ranchero now boasts a vibrant storefront that welcomes visitors with the promise of authentic, flavorful dishes.
The menu features an impressive array of offerings, with the Burrito al Pastor standing out as a festival of flavors. Crafted with juicy, expertly cooked pork, this burrito is generously seasoned and wrapped to perfection—no juicy morsel is lost, thanks to the toasting technique that keeps everything intact. Pair it with the restaurant’s exquisite mole sauce, fresh guacamole, and zesty salsa verde for an explosion of taste that encapsulates the essence of Mexican cuisine.
Customers rave about the carne asada quesadillas, hailed as the best in town, and the burritos are regarded as the best in the area, impressively featuring avocado as a standard ingredient—a rarity that brings an extra layer of richness. The kitchen prides itself on preparing all dishes to order, ensuring that every plate served is fresh and satisfying, a sentiment echoed by regulars who appreciate the consistency in quality.
While the ambiance is simple, with a focus on cleanliness and efficiency, the warm and welcoming nature of the staff elevates the dining experience at El Taco Ranchero. “ Update 9/29/2020: I drove by again, and they are open for business since Spring 2020. So happy to see this! Update 6/12/2019: I drove by today, and they are still temporarily closed due to renovations/repairs. I live right behind this location, and will update this review when they re-open...I tell everybody about how delicious this place is!) I was pleasantly surprised to happen upon this new Mexican/Southwest establishment, right next to my neighborhood. The Burrito al Pastor (pork) was fantastic, not dry, very juicy, yet they toast the sides so that it does not drain juices—a nice touch. Very well made. The mole sauce, guac/chili blend and salsa verde were all fantastic. The food appeared to all be made to order which was impressive. Most importantly, the customer service was very friendly and helpful in describing the menu, as I was a first-timer. Will and have recommended to friends and family! ”
“ Flavorful authentic style Mexican food that always is reliable/consistent. Food is great, best burritos in the area and I believe that is because they are the only spot to put avocado in their burritos. Don’t expect amazing service though, as they used to be a taco truck that now has storefront location. Great spot for a quick bite. ”
“ Best carne asada quesadillas I’ve ever had. Always quick and easy pickup! ”
“ Good food, good menu fast service, clean restaurant, nice people. Nothing fancy, just your typical rice & beans Mexican food, but high quality nonetheless. We got steak burrito dinners to go and they were quite tasty! ”
“ 5 stars costumer service Great food, and I must say, they have the best Tacos in the Chicagoland. Super clean restaurant . A must visit place if you are in the area. Big shout out to the cooks ... Berenice and Ramon ! ”
“ Great little spot for Mexican food. Place is small and focuses on quality and freshness! Great staff, and the owner is a proud guy and is building a great place with a great reputation! Food authentic, service with a smile! There is not much seating here, and everything is cooked to order so do not expect the speed of a taco Bell or other chain! I wish them much success and will be back regularly! ”
“ I only tried one thing so far: an al pastor burrito, but it was stellar. The meat was flavorful, the roasted jalapeno was tasty, the three sauces (the usual green and red, plus a nice green crema-based sauce) were all great. The burrito was grilled and had great texture. If you're looking for a fancy ambiance, this ain't it, but my Mexican-American friends tell me to avoid those kinds of Mexican restaurants anyway. ”
“ For years I've enjoyed their food, from their truck. Even my family enjoyed. Well, this store is just miles from my Dad's and I had always wanted to stop. Food is as good, of not better than at their truck. For a mostly take out place, inside they do have 2 tables. Just perfect when we stopped ”
